Eruv

Eruv: unknown

Not found online as of Nov 2026 (checked Wikipedia's list of eruvin on 1 Nov 2026, which shows only Zürich for Switzerland, plus Google and Chabad Switzerland): no eruv is known in Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen or Lauterbrunnen, and I found no resident Jewish community that would keep one; ask Chabad of Central Switzerland (Lucerne) on +41 41 361 17 70. Treat Shabbat as no-carry (no keys, wallets or tickets outside); car-free Wengen is not an eruv.

Adelboden summer minyan (seasonal, private group)

Adelboden, venue not published (village contact point: Tourist Center, Dorfstrasse 23, 3715 Adelboden)
Orthodox

Minyan: Times: call. Listed under 'Summer Minyanim 2026' on Chabad Switzerland's weekly-updated list (read 2 Nov 2026), which says most minyanim run from after Tisha B'Av until Elul unless other dates are given; for Adelboden it gives no dates, venue or times. Seasonal only, so do not expect a winter minyan, and this is the 2026 list; I did not see a 2027 one on 2 Nov 2026. About 32 km (straight line, from coordinates) south-west of Interlaken, in a different valley. Pin is the village tourist office, not a synagogue.

Mikvah

Agudas Achim Mikwe (Zürich) - nearest mikvah I could confirm

Erikastrasse 8, 8003 Zürich

Booking: Book through Agudas Achim Zürich; booking line is in the Zürich city entry. Google reviewer: 'Beautiful, clean Mikvah'. No mikvah found in the Oberland (not found online as of Nov 2026); ask Chabad Lucerne (+41 41 361 17 70) whether Lucerne or Bern can arrange immersion. chabadluzern.com (read 2 Nov 2026) links only a general mikvah article, and Google Places returns no Lucerne mikvah. A totallyjewishtravel page titled 'Mikvah Lucerne' (listing TE23388) exists but could not be opened on 2 Nov 2026, so a Lucerne mikvah is unconfirmed.

What locals would tell you

  • Not found online as of Nov 2026 (checked Google Places in English, German and Hebrew spellings, Chabad Switzerland's summer-minyan list, the SIG kosher shop and restaurant lists, and German and Hebrew web searches): a year-round Jewish community, Chabad house, kosher restaurant, takeaway or mikvah in Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen or Lauterbrunnen. Seasonal exception found: Chabad Switzerland's weekly-updated 'Summer Minyanim 2026' list names private summer minyanim in Adelboden (J. Schneck, +44 7594 837201) and Lenk (29 Jul to 10 Aug 2026, N. Brandeis, +41 78 892 03 96), both in the wider Bernese Oberland, with no venue, times or kosher food published; the same list does not mention Interlaken, Grindelwald, Gstaad or Brienz. Ask Chabad of Central Switzerland (Lucerne) on +41 41 361 17 70 whether a summer group will meet nearer your dates, or bring ten men and run your own. Hebrew searches ('Interlaken kosher minyan', 'Interlaken Chabad house') returned only hotel-booking listings; lametayel.co.il and tjt.co.il pages could not be read, so ask a recent Israeli traveller too. Outside the Oberland, Beit Yossef in Crans-Montana (Rue Centrale 33, Valais, +41 78 700 34 08) is another Alpine option: Google reviewers (Nov 2026) mention a young Chabad rabbi, a welcoming minyan and Shabbos food by advance order; travel time from Interlaken not checked.
  • Food: go self-catering. Shop on the way at Zürich's kosher shops (Koscher City open Thursday to 22:00 but Friday only to 14:00; LeShuk and Ma'adan also close about 14:00 Friday), or order Shabbat food from LSK / Schalom Catering (+41 44 810 40 00; a reviewer says it fed an Alps holiday including Shabbat) or Cordon-Rouge (+41 78 690 01 22, meat and wine delivered across Switzerland). Nearer shops: Oelzweig in Thun or Steffisburg (Google and SIG disagree on the address, phone first), Dorfchäsi Wattenwil for kosher hard cheese, Loeb in Bern. The Bern community's kosher list (Aug 2025) also names kosher bread at Ängelibeck and the Swiss Kosher app scans barcodes. Interlaken's Coop and Migros are ordinary supermarkets.
  • Where to sleep: choose an apartment with a kitchen. Booking.com Q&A says Metropole, Beau-Rivage, du Nord, Central Continental and Downtown Apartments use metal keys, while Krebs, Victoria-Jungfrau, Bernerhof and SAVOY 26 use key cards. None of the hotel pages and Q&A I read states a Shabbat elevator or kosher breakfast, so ask in writing. Hot plates can be bought in Zürich's kosher supermarkets (SIG).
  • Shabbat in a mountain village: no eruv, so carry nothing. Finish every train, cable-car or boat trip before candle lighting and keep Jungfraujoch and similar day trips for Sunday to Thursday. Jungfraujoch is open about 08:45-17:45 (Google; 09:15-16:45 in early Nov 2026) and switzerlanding.com (Sep 2026) gives the last winter train down to Eigergletscher as 16:47 (summer 17:47), so on a winter Friday you would still be travelling at candle lighting; check your own candle-lighting time. Wengen is car-free and Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen are walkable, but buy tickets and food before Shabbat.
  • Season: SIG says the summer peak for Israeli families is the weeks after Tisha B'Av; Jewish guests also come at Pesach and in winter. SIG suggests Friday or Sunday changeover days or Sunday-to-Sunday rentals and asking hotels about timers, motion sensors and automatic doors. SIG's Likrat Public visitor-advice line is listed in its tourism brochure (+41 43 305 07 65, likrat@swissjews.ch; contact may have changed).
  • Lucerne as the alternative base: Chabad of Central Switzerland (Rabbi Chaim Drukman, +41 41 361 17 70) and the Jüdische Gemeinde synagogue are there, and HITrental Chapel Bridge Apartments (mechanical keys, under 10 min away) is the only stay I could rate 'good'. Ask Chabad about meals, times and mikvah before booking; I found no published Lucerne times. Bern's community posts Kabbalat Shabbat 18:00 (winter time) or 18:45 (summer time) and Shabbat Shacharit 9:15, but you must register ahead with the office (Mon-Thu 09:00-11:00, +41 31 381 49 92) and leave a copy of official ID. The nearest confirmed mikvah is in Zürich.

Seen in older guides, checked Nov 2026: Chabad of Interlaken / Chabad Swiss Alps / seasonal summer Chabad house: not found online as of Nov 2026 (checked Google Places, Chabad Switzerland's site and its Summer Minyanim 2026 list, chabadluzern.com, and searches for 'Chabad Interlaken 2026', 'koscher Interlaken', 'Kosher Grindelwald', 'Kosher Wengen', 'Jungfrau kosher hotel 2026' and Hebrew spellings); that list names only Adelboden and Lenk for the Oberland (see shuls). Not confirmed or denied by Chabad, so no Rabbi, dates or phone are listed; ask Chabad of Central Switzerland (Lucerne) on +41 41 361 17 70 · Kosher takeaway or restaurant in Interlaken ('Kosher Interlaken'): not found online as of Nov 2026; Google Places returns only halal, Lebanese and Syrian places and none claims a hechsher, and nothing is listed on SIG's restaurant and hotel page. Do not treat Middle Eastern restaurants as kosher · Hotel Silberhorn, Grindelwald (the Wagner-Kahn kosher hotel): closed in 1996 (Jüdische Allgemeine, 2011). The Hotel Silberhorn now in Wengen and another in Lauterbrunnen are ordinary hotels; I found no kosher service there · Hotel Palace, Wengen (kosher summer programme run by an Israeli operator, 2015 press): now 'Hotel Palace Intersoc', open only to members of a Belgian health fund since winter 2016/17 (Google reviewers repeat this) · Pension Levy (opened 1889) and Hotel De la Paix (1928, house synagogue) in Interlaken: historical kosher houses; a press piece describes them as history, and no current kosher pension was found online as of Nov 2026 · jgluzern.ch: returned an unrelated shop page on 1 Nov 2026 (the community's old site address), so use the phone number from Google instead · Summer 2026 kosher programmes in the Alps: a totallyjewishtravel page titled 'Tourman kosher summer retreat Scuol Switzerland 2026' appeared in a search (Scuol is in the Engadin, not the Oberland) and was not opened; totallyjewishtravel's Grindelwald kosher-tours page showed no listings. Nothing found online as of Nov 2026 for Interlaken or Grindelwald · Restaurant Lindenblüte (Brienz): a Google description lists 'kosher' among dietary options but states no hechsher, so it is not treated as a kosher outlet · Mikvah in Lucerne: not found online as of Nov 2026; totallyjewishtravel has a page titled 'Mikvah Lucerne' (listing TE23388) that could not be opened (rate-limited on 2 Nov 2026), Google Places returns no Lucerne mikvah and chabadluzern.com links only a general mikvah article. Ask Chabad Lucerne
