Eruv

Eruv: yes

Chabad Panama lists Punta Pacifica, Punta Paitilla, part of Marbella, part of Bella Vista and part of Av. Balboa / Cinta Costera (FAQ updated Aug 19, 2026); the map itself (Google My Maps 'Eruv Panama': La Cresta, Bella Vista, Marbella, Paitilla, Punta Pacifica) is also linked from shevetahim.com: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1YhSd_hZcrlKRF1a2juiq1YqnlarHmqgK. Go Beyond says the community maintains it and checks it weekly, but no maintainer is named and no weekly status page exists (shevetahim.com, Chabad's FAQ and tourist-info pages and Go Beyond only link the map), so confirm with Shevet Ahim (+507 225-5990) or Chabad (WhatsApp +507 6636-8515) before Shabbat.

What locals would tell you

  • Every visitor needs DSI community-security approval before entering any shul or minyan, Shabbat included. Register and pay at visit.dsipanama.org/register at least 72 hours before arrival (USD 20 for the registrant plus USD 10 per extra family member aged 13+; under 13 free; immediate family on one form). You get a QR code by email, then a short passport interview at a community shul (Mon-Fri 7-9 AM and 5:30-7 PM, or during Shabbat tefilla; none on Sundays or national holidays). Carry the QR and your original passport.
  • Chabad House Shabbat dinner (Fri 7:30 PM) and lunch (Sat 12:00) are prepaid at app.flowiz.io/panr/en/f/, up to 6 months ahead and until Wednesday evening; book a month or more ahead in school-break weeks. Take-out Shabbos in a Box (self-pickup) is app.flowiz.io/panf/en/f/ until Tuesday 11:00 AM. Meal prices are not published online (the form shows only dates), so ask on WhatsApp. Beth El runs a prepaid visitor Kiddush, Fadalu offers free home hospitality (Fadalupty@gmail.com), and Go Beyond lists Deli K Market (order by Thursday) and Pita Plus for Shabbat meals.
  • Stay in Punta Paitilla (Calle Ramón H. Jurado, Av. Italia, Calle Tomás Gabriel Duque) for 5-14 min walks to Chabad and Beth El; JW Marriott is nearest Bet Max Ve Sarah. Sortis (Obarrio) and Waldorf Astoria are roughly 24-30+ min walks from the nearest listed shul.
  • Most hotels have electronic keys, doors and light sensors. Eshel Suites has manual locks with no electricity, a Shabbat hot-water timer and no elevator; Plaza Paitilla Inn rooms start on the 2nd floor, Residence Inn on the 6th per Chabad. Shabbat elevators at Hilton, Las Americas Golden Tower and Sortis are for group bookings only. Staff at nearby hotels know Shabbat and will open doors.
  • Kashrut: Shevet Ahim Kosher (list at kosher.com.pa) certifies the restaurants; meat places are glatt Beit Yosef. Many dairy places are cholov stam; the list marks Jalav Yisrael ones (La Spezia, Pita Pan, Shaki's Pizza, Nice Slice, the Jeffrey's restaurant). Not every place has a full-time mashgiach: ask first. Airport: Fresh Kosher by Organik, Tocumen T2 opposite gates 217-218, is on the list.
  • Eruv: no weekly status page exists, so confirm with Shevet Ahim (+507 225-5990) or Chabad (WhatsApp +507 6636-8515) before Shabbat; Costa del Este is not listed inside it. Chabad posts candle lighting (17:37 for Nov 6-7, about 18 min before sunset; Shabbat ends 18:27) and invites visitors to light there. Super Kosher and Deli K close Friday at 16:00-16:30 and most restaurants at 15:00-16:30, so shop early.
  • Only Chabad publishes service times. For Beth El, Shevet Ahim, Ahavat Sion and Bet Max Ve Sarah, ask when you register or call. If Chabad's Shabbat and prayers pages differ on Friday (5:50 / 7:00 vs 6:00 / 6:45), use the Shabbat page and confirm by WhatsApp. If visit.dsipanama.org/register fails, shevetahim.com links visitors.centraldsi.com and centrobethel.com links dsipanama.org/visit.
  • Beth El hosts a Shabbat lunch but no Friday dinner (Rabbi Laine, Jewish Link, Feb 2024): reserve by email (secretaria@centrobethel.com) and plan Friday night at Chabad House or a prepaid take-out meal.
  • Room keys: Booking.com facility lists show key-card access at Decapolis (Radisson), Residence Inn, Plaza Paitilla Inn and Las Americas (Nov 2026), and its Decapolis Q&A says card access only. Only Eshel Suites states manual locks; elsewhere ask in advance for a manual key or for staff to open the door.

Seen in older guides, checked Nov 2026: Beth Jacob, Centro Israelita de Panama and Sociedad Israelita de Beneficencia: named on Go Beyond's Shabbat walking guide, but no address, phone or times found online as of Nov 2026 (Google Places, Go Beyond, Go Kosher Panama, TotallyJewishTravel); Go Kosher Panama counts four Orthodox shuls (Shevet Ahim, Ahavat Sion with Ateret Yosef, Beth El, Chabad). Ask Chabad Panama for the full shul list. · Darna (chef Ayelet's older dairy bakery-restaurant, listed in a 2024 article and an old Great Kosher Restaurants directory entry at Paitilla Mall, local 6): a Great Kosher Restaurants Foodies post about four months before Nov 2026 describes breakfast at 'Darna bread and co', and Chef Ayelet's current kitchen at the Sunset Strip Mall is on Chabad's list as El Nacional by Chef Ayelet and on Lula by Darna (Shevet Ahim Kosher list, Casco Antiguo). Whether the Paitilla bakery is still certified is unconfirmed: ask Shevet Ahim Kosher. · Blame Kiki (dairy Italian): in 2025 guides but absent from Chabad Panama's current kosher list (read 2 Nov 2026); status unconfirmed. Olivetta, described in a Great Kosher Restaurants Foodies post (about four months before Nov 2026) as a new Italian kosher restaurant, is also not on that list: ask Shevet Ahim Kosher before relying on either. · Ateret Yosef, Midrash Shelomo and Yaguel Yaakov: sanctuaries on the lobby board in a Mar 2026 article (see Shevet Ahim and Ahavat Sion); no separate address found. Ateret Yosef shares the Paitilla building with Ahavat Sion. · Kol Shearith Israel (Costa del Este): non-Orthodox, excluded. · Google also lists a 'Chabad Panama Center' at Av. Italia 23 (+507 6267-7196); chabadpanama.com shows only the Gil Colunge address, so it is not added (unconfirmed, not known to be closed).
